Every Italian city has its star dishes. This is why we have listed for you the most characteristic ones from Naples.


In Naples we have two traditional pizzas: Margherita, with tomato sauce, cheese and basil; and the Marinara, with olive oil, tomato sauce, garlic and oregano.

Spaghetti alle vongole

You cannot come to Italy and not have a pasta dish. During your stay in Naples we recommend you to try the local special: Spaghetti alle vongole. This dish includes clams and spices such as pepper and garlic stir-fried with white wine.


The most typical sweet dishes from this wonderful city are the Babá and the Sfogliatelle. The Babá is similar to a cremè caramel, but sometimes is flatter and has rum or limoncello. It tastes like syrup and sometimes is served with berries. The Sfogliatelle are puff pastry cakes that can have different stuffing such as vanilla, orange confit, chocolate, cream, ricotta, etc.


Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte

This art museum was officially opened in the mid-20th century, event hough the building is a palace from the 18th century, as well as our hotel. It includes two main collections: the Farnese collection with paintings from well-known Italian and international artists; and the Neapolitan Gallery with paintings from churches of the city and its surroundings.

National Archaeological Museum

This is one of the most important museums of its kind for the quantity and the quality of its exposition. The building that houses the museum is from the late 16th century and is one of the main monumental palaces of Naples. The museum has four main points: the Farnese Collection, with objects from Rome and its surroundings; the Pompeii collections, with ancient evidence from the Mount Vesuvius area; objects from smaller collections bought or donated to the museum; and objects from diggings carried out by the Naples and Caserta General Direction of Archaeology.

Farmacia Storica Degli “Incurabili”

This building from the mid-18th century is part of the ancient and promiment hospital complex of Naples. The pharmacy remains intact. It has a great salon, an entrance hall and a small laboratory.

Osservatorio di Capodimonte

Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte is the Neapolitan department of Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), the most important Italian institution promoting and developing scientific research in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, and space science.

Santa María della Sanità and Catacombs of Saint Gaudiosus

The Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità is located over the Catacombs of Saint Gaudiosus in Naples. The church was originally attached to a Dominican monastery founded in the 16th century. The church was built in a centralised Greek-cross plan using the architectural designs of Giuseppe Nuovo. The Catacombs of Saint Gaudiosus are underground paleo-Christian burial sites. According to tradition, it was the burial site of St Gaudiosus, a bishop arrived in Naples from North Africa due to a shipwreck.

Cimitero delle Fontanelle

The Cimitero delle Fontanelle is a charnel house, an ossuary, located in a cave of Naples. By the time the Spanish moved into the city in the early 16th century, there was already concern where to locate cemeteries, and moves had been taken to locate graves outside of the city walls.
